Hemu Subdistrict is located in the northwest part of Hangzhou City. It stretches from a tributary of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in the east to Moganshan Road in the west. It is bordered by Zhaojiabang River to the south, adjacent to Xiahe Subdistrict, and reaches the North Bus Station and Xiangfu Subdistrict to the north. Hemu Subdistrict was established in September 1983 and is located at No. 618 Moganshan Road. It is named after the Hemu New Village within its jurisdiction and is recognized as a civilized subdistrict in Hangzhou City. The subdistrict covers an area of 1.5 square kilometers and includes four communities: Hemu, Huafeng, Lijiaqiao, and Huaxian. It has a population of 24,800 permanent residents, mostly from the Han ethnic group with a small minority of Hui. On December 16, 2019, Hemu Subdistrict was selected as one of the third batch of demonstration subdistricts (townships) for smart and healthy aging.
